Antonio Valdez Jr. of Taylor went to join his Heavenly Father on Saturday, April 9, 2022.

Antonio Valdez Jr., 93, was born October 31, 1928 to Taylor d’Antonio and Trinidad (Aguilar) Valdez Sr.

He grew up with six brothers and two sisters. He married Cathrina Magallon on November 9, 1950 in North Dakota, and from this marriage were born eight children, Robert, Rosie, Richard, Patsy, Ernest, Arthur, Victor and Vickie.

Antonio worked for the City of Taylor for 45 years until his retirement. Antonio and Cathrina enjoyed traveling to Mexico and going dancing with family and friends.

Antonio enjoyed building, sewing and fishing.

Antonio was predeceased by his parents, wife, two children, Arthur and Vickie; and his six brothers, Isidio, Joaquin, Guadalupe, Crespin Sr, Nicholas and Pedro; sister Helen Rendon; and his son-in-law Frank Azua Jr.

Antonio is survived by one sister, Tina Mojica; and her children, Robert, Rosie, Richard, Patsy, Ernest (Theresa) and Victor; plus 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

The bearers are Dorian Valdez, Vincent Azua, Roland Azua, Adam Martinez, Esteban Reyna and Ernest Valdez Jr.

Honorary bearers are Adrian Valdez, Toby Valdez.

Our family would like to thank Daisy Leyendecker, Stella Lopez, Alma Medina and the Hospice staff for the incredible care they gave our father.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 21 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Taylor’s Providence Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 22 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylor. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
