Blue Ridge Hospice has appointed Jason Parsons as Director of Business Development for the highly regarded, mission-driven 41-year-old critical illness and end-of-life care provider.
As Director of Business Development, Parsons will be responsible for planning and implementing strategies to lead Blue Ridge Hospice as it navigates the ever-changing and increasingly demanding healthcare landscape. He joins Blue Ridge Hospice at an important time in its 41-year history of identifying and meeting community needs and will help guide the organization through two critical enhancements to its mission-fulfillment work. Blue Ridge Hospice recently began piloting a community-based palliative care program at a number of area nursing homes with the goal of eventually offering the service to critically ill, out-of-hospital patients whether they reside in a residence home, nursing home or assisted living community. . Additionally, Blue Ridge Independence at Home, a subsidiary, has received approval from the Commonwealth of Virginia to open a Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) program serving the Winchester area and surrounding areas.
Parsons will specifically act as the organization’s principal leader in developing new business and strategic partnerships, identifying and negotiating affiliate and new payer opportunities, overseeing product and service development, acting as as a key participant in strategic planning, guiding all marketing and public relations activities, and directing Blue Ridge Hospice’s fundraising initiatives to support the accomplishment of the mission.

Parsons comes to Blue Ridge Hospice from Capital Caring Health, Falls Church, VA, where he led public affairs and philanthropy for an organization that served up to 1,400 patients a day across Virginia, Maryland and the District. of Columbia with a menu of critical illness, hospice and palliative care services. Previously, he was Executive Business Director for West Virginia at the Office of the West Virginia Secretary of State in Charleston, WV, and Executive Director of Keep Prince William Beautiful in Woodbridge, VA. Parsons also founded and ran his own consulting firm, Stratecess Consulting, through which he has worked with organizations in health, environment and education to support strategic planning, assessment of organizational capacities, communications, policies and marketing initiatives.
