Catholic The Bishop of Ekwulobia Diocese, His Eminence Cardinal Peter Okpalaeke inaugurated an ICT Center donated to the Uga community in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State by Johnbosco Anaedobe.

Anaedobe, popularly known as Uga-na-Uga, has donated the fully equipped ICT center to the community to serve as “the springboard through which the next generation of Nigerians will compete with the rest of the world in technological innovations”.

The Cardinal, shortly after dedicating the facility for use, commended the donor for starting the initiative, saying the ICT center would add positive values to the lives of those who use it and to the society in general.

He called on other well-meaning people in the state to emulate Anaedobe in donating ICT centers to their communities as the world is now in the digital era where information technology rules the world.

The philanthropist who is also the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Aguata 1 constituency for the House of Assembly in the 2023 election, said the facility would serve as a center where children would learn coding and other aspects of computing early in life.

“There is no doubt that the knowledge economy driven by technology is the next stage of economic prosperity. Africa has lost in the era of industrialization and we must strive to be in the technological phase,” he said.

It was understood that the institution would also serve as a UTME center for students from this area and thus relieve them of the stress of traveling long distances to take the exams.
