Paula Mann earned a Bachelor of Education and Masters of Education from Nipissing University

The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board (NPSC) Board of Trustees announced the appointment of Paula Mann as Director of Education and Board Secretary, effective May 3.

She replaces Anna Marie Bitonti, who in December 2021 announced her upcoming retirement.

A graduate of St. Joseph-Scollard Hall, Paula Mann earned a Bachelor of Education and Masters of Education from Nipissing University.

“She began her teaching career at NPSC in 1998 and has enjoyed a high level of success in her roles as teacher, principal, chief education officer and superintendent of education, a role that she has occupied since 2010,” a press release read.

“Throughout her years as a senior Catholic trustee, Ms. Mann has demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to excellence in her various portfolios, some of which include: Safe Schools, Student Success, Early Learning, Technology-Based Learning, Indigenous Education, Special Education, Program and Curriculum, and Labor Relations. She has also served on local, regional and provincial committees and served as a mentor to the Ontario Catholic Supervisory Officers’ Association for newly appointed senior staff,” the statement said.

“We are confident that Paula will be a strong progressive leader who will continue the board’s tradition of focusing on the student experience in the inclusive and welcoming environment of our Catholic schools,” said board chair Leo de Jourdan. “Her experience as a teacher, principal and member of the senior management team has prepared her well for her new role.”

“I am incredibly humbled and honored to serve our Board of Directors, students, parents, staff and community partners in the role of Director of Education at NPSC,” said Paula Mann. “I look forward to working with our Board of Trustees, senior team and staff to achieve our strategic goals and continue to foster high quality, inclusive and innovative Catholic education to help our students reach their full potential. I am deeply grateful to have the opportunity to build on the strong foundation of student success and well-being that has been established over the years by our current leadership team. »
