Chansi Stuckey gets an immediate opportunity to make a huge recruiting impact

0

Notre Dame wide receivers coach song stuckey quickly dispelled doubts about his impact on the recruitment track despite a lack of experience in this field. He’s gotten off to a fast start, but a solid finish in 2023 and a strong class in 2024 are much needed for the freshman coach as he looks to mend a very thin depth chart.

Stuckey has been off to a strong start so far, having landed a pair of talented receivers in 2023 at Round Rock (Texas) Stony Point standout Braylon James and high school star Folsom (California) Rico Flores. He also landed a commitment from playmaker Glen Ellyn (Ill.) Glenbard South cam williamsone of the best larges in the 2024 class.

Yes, it’s a good start, but for Stuckey to achieve the necessary level of success, it has to be just the start.

WORK TO BE DONE IN 2023

James isn’t the only Lone Star wide receiver Stuckey potentially attracts to South Bend. Austin (Texas) stands out in West Lake jadeen Beautiful house is near the top of the table for the Irish and the 6-2, 210 pounds reciprocates that interest. Greathouse announced he would make a decision on July 15 and choose between the Irish, Texas, Oklahoma and South Carolina.

Notre Dame is in a strong position here, and now it’s time to close. Greathouse is a dominant playmaker with the talent to make an immediate impact, which Stuckey needs in this class.

Notre Dame is also making a big push for Cambridge (Mass.) star Buckingham Browne and Nichols Ronan Hanafin. Hanafin is one of the best two-way players in the country, and it shows in his recruiting. Notre Dame and Clemson want him as a wide receiver and Alabama likes him as a linebacker.

Stuckey will have to play an important role in the conclusion on Hanafin.

A class of James, Flores, Hanafin and Greathouse is the kind of deep and incredibly talented class that the Irish want and need to quickly get the depth chart back on track.

2024 MUST BE THIS GOOD

Stuckey cannot afford to do well in 2023 but not match that level of success with the 2024 class. Success over the two years is what is needed for Notre Dame to quickly heal their receiver depth chart, but also to add the playmaking talent necessary for the offense to become the elite unit it needs.

The top of the board is loaded, and one name Irish fans need to know is the St. Louis (Mo.) University star Ryan wingo, who currently sits as the No. 4 player overall and the No. 1 wide receiver in the class according to the On3 consensus ranking. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound wide receiver brings an explosive style to become a multi-level threat early on. He has all the tools to become one of the elite receivers at the college level.

Stuckey and Notre Dame will have to come from behind with Wingo, but a recent visit in June has helped the Irish a lot.

Stuckey may also be looking to dive back into the state of Texas in hopes his ties there pay off. Key target in 2024 is Temple (Texas) Lake Belton star Micah Hudson. The 6-0, 185-pound point guard brings a lot of similar characteristics to the table as a former Ohio State star Garrett Wilson; the child is special.

It will be a tough exit from Texas State, but that hasn’t stopped Stuckey from luring both James and Greathouse this cycle.

Being a legacy for a school is also a good starting point for developing relationships. Now, being a dual heritage, that’s a really good sign. Rancho Santa Margarita (California) Catholic Pass Catcher emmet Mosley comes from a Notre Dame family, with both parents being outstanding college athletes.

The 6-foot-0, 175-pound athlete is also a big football player, ranking 120th in the world and 19th in the class according to 247Sports. Mosley is the type of all-around athlete who could potentially fit into the defensive back position as well. He could ultimately be the slot option for the Irish in 2024 with a massive upside stemming from an injury-plagued second campaign.

The Irish Breakdown staff went on to reiterate that staff must constantly identify talent in the state and put a fence around Indiana for the players they want. New Haven (Ind.) Stands Out Mylan Graham is a player who has been offered recently after a dynamic performance at the Irish Invasion a few weekends ago.

The 6-foot-1, 170-pound point guard brings a high level of speed to win both vertically or after the reception. He could be another interesting big game threat that is not yet ranked appropriately on major recruiting platforms, but is expected to see a massive increase along the way.

Perhaps one of the most interesting players on the roster is Tampa Bay (Fla.) wide receiver Carrollwood Day Bredell Richardson. The 6-1, 180-pound wide receiver brings an alpha mentality to the field that is needed at the wide receiver position. He excels with football in the air and has a knack for making big plays. Florida is a state Notre Dame needs to have big wins on the recruiting track and Richardson would be a huge hit if they could enter the conversation. Richardson ranks 43rd overall in players and 9th wide receiver in the 2024 class.

The rest of the board is littered with talented pass catchers, each possessing some form of dynamic traits. Philadelphia (Penn.) Roman Catholic standout Tyzer Denmark is a top option that Notre Dame staff are watching closely and would love to get on campus. There are also talented players like the Christian Brothers athlete from St. Louis (Mo.) Jeremiah McClellanstar of Long Beach (California) Millikan Ryan PellumGray (Ga.) Jones County standout If we ragins and Long Beach (California) Poly standout jason robinson.

So far, Stuckey has put together a big 2024 chart that speaks volumes about the quality of pass catchers in the cycle. With so many dynamic weapons already targeted by staff, Stuckey has the opportunity to boast his full level of impact in the next cycle.
