Kiwanis Auto Show

ROCKPORT – On Saturday, June 18, Spencer County Kiwanis is hosting the Honest Abe Kiwanis Car Show at Rockport City Park. Registration for the auto show is from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. There is no pre-registration. The registration fee is $20. The first 100 participants will receive scoreboard plaques. This is a judged show. One prize per participant. Half pot and several door prizes throughout the day. Judging begins from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Presentation of awards and big door prizes after 2 p.m. Famous Kiwanis all day dining tent. Big Kiwanis sale at the community building from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. All proceeds will go to the Children of South Spencer. For any questions contact Dan Rininger (812) 893-1198 call or text.

LHPL Summer Reading: Adventure Awaits

SPENCER COUNTY – Registration begins at both branches (Chrisney and Dale) for all ages Monday, May 23 through June 3 during library hours. Join anytime during the summer, however the earlier you join the more prizes to collect/win. After reading books, adults will spin the wheel to win entries for one of 10 gift baskets at the Dale branch or one of five gift baskets at the Chrisney branch. Young people will pay the Plinko Peg game to win weekly prizes and get their books to spend at the Scholastic Book Fair in August. Each child could earn up to $5 in books to buy new free books.

6 p.m. — Painting class! Local artist, Jane Jenkins, will teach us how to paint a picture suitable for hanging. All supplies will be provided and this course is 100% FREE!

ROCKPORT — The Spencer County Public Library is hosting a “Silly Science” program at its Rockport branch on Tuesday, June 14 starting at 2 p.m. at 15h. Join them for fun experiments and to learn different aspects of science. Open to the public.

Noah Loper Benefit Concert

LINCOLN CITY — The band Strangers will hold a benefit concert on June 25 at the auditorium of Heritage Hills High School. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Music at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $7. Proceeds from the event will go to a scholarship in Noah’s name. There will be special guest In The Basement and Jesse Rohl.

Preteen Program at Rockport Park

ROCKPORT — The Spencer County Public Library is hosting an Oceans of Possibilities Tween program on Wednesday, June 15 from 11:15 a.m. to noon. Join a group of your peers to play games, do cool crafts or other activities. Lunch is provided.

Floor-to-Shelf Workshop

GENTRYVILLE – On Saturday, June 25 from 9-11 a.m. there will be a Lincoln State Park and Spencer County SWCD Workshop covering soil amendments and troubleshooting your garden at Joneshome located in Gentryville.

Latin Carnival

DALE – Dale Fall Fest and the Town of Dale will be holding their second annual Latino Carnival from Thursday, July 7 through Saturday, July 9. On Thursday, there will be carnival rides from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. On Friday there will be food stalls, rides, an opening ceremony and a children’s beauty pageant. On Saturday there will be a variety of eating contests, food stalls, rides and a soccer tournament.

Fulda Jeep Race

FULDA – The eighth annual Fulda Jeep Race will be held on July 31 from the Fulda Sportsman Club.

$10 per person (15 and under free). Arrival at 9 a.m. First jeep outing at 11 a.m. Proceeds will go to the historic St. Boniface Catholic Church, Fulda Sportsman Club and Fulda Ball Field. For more information, call 812-357-2330.

Rockport Freedom Festival

ROCKPORT — On July 2 and 3, a freedom festival will take place in Rockport. The event will include a car show, fireworks, parade, inflatables, food trucks and live music. The parade will take place on July 3 at 1 p.m. Free event.

Christmas craft fair in July

SANTA CLAUS – The Santa Claus Museum and Village is hosting a July Christmas Craft Fair on July 23 from 8 a.m. to noon. Browse handicrafts from local vendors at the craft fair. While you’re there, visit the museum, write a letter to Santa in the town’s original post office, and take a “Santa Selfie” with the historic 22-foot-tall Santa Claus statue.

Chrisney Fall Festival

CHRISNEY – The Chrisney Fall Festival is hosting its first annual car show on September 17. $10.00 per car. Registration from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Prize-giving at 2:00 p.m. Fun for the whole family. The festival will have live music, an outdoor cafe. rides, food stalls and half pot.
