Secaucus, New Jersey (09/28/22) The Dominican University of New York men’s soccer team lost a conference game to Alliance University 2-1.
The Chargers drop to 1-5-3 (0-5-1 CACC) and Alliance improves to 2-5-2 (2-2-1 CACC).
David Arteaga (Middlesex, NJ) started in goal for the Chargers and made four saves, but suffered the loss. Marco Roessle made three saves for Alliance and took the win.
Both teams drew scoreless at half time. Both goalkeepers each made a save in the first half.
The Chargers were first on the board at 73:41 when Griffin Van Cott (Goshen, NY) scored an unassisted goal to lead 1-0. Alliance responded with two unanswered goals scored by Jacopo Borgalli nine minutes apart to complete the comeback and secure victory.
Javier Plaza registered an assist on the match-winning goal for Alliance. Luis Guevara (Middlesex, NJ) recorded a team-high two shots for the Chargers.
Borgalli led Alliance in shots with five and scored both goals. Javier Plaza took four shots in the win and finished with an assist.
The Chargers will be looking to bounce back this Saturday, Oct. 1, when they face non-conference opponent Franklin Pierce University on the road at 7:00 p.m.
