Oyster Festival returns to Long Island in October

The waterside shell party is expected to attract up to 200,000 people.


After two years, the Oyster Festival will return to Oyster Bay this fall. The town of Oyster Bay announced its return, calling it the largest waterfront festival on the East Coast.


The 39th Oyster Festival will be held on October 15 and 16.


“Delicious food vendors, various merchandise displays, rides and a waterfront family entertainment area – the list goes on – the Oyster Festival has something for everyone,” said the city ​​supervisor, Joseph Saladino, in the ad. “For nearly four decades, this annual tradition has provided so many great attractions, and we are confident it will return this year better than ever.”


The Oyster Festival is the East Coast’s largest waterfront festival and draws up to 200,000 people from across the tri-state area to the hamlet of Oyster Bay for this iconic event. Along with delicious food vendors, various merchandise displays, rides and a waterfront family entertainment area, the Oyster Festival will this year be the first seafood festival to take part in the the city’s new seashell recycling program, collecting seashells from local partners in an effort to help strengthen the marine ecosystem.


Catholic Health President and CEO Patrick M. O’Shaughnessy, DO, MBA, was also on hand to announce the festival. Catholic Health is partnering with the town of Oyster Bay for the event, which it says reflects the uniqueness of the community.


“The annual Oyster Festival is a wonderful celebration of community and camaraderie,” said Dr. O’Shaughnessy.
