Nancy Veronica Thomas passed into eternal rest on Sunday, October 24, 2021.

She was the sister of Adèle Jabour and the aunt of several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, and great-grand-nieces and nephews.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah (Abraham) Thomas. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, the late Budio Thomas, Anthony Thomas, Sr., and James Thomas, and her sisters, the late Susan Abood and Mary Salem.

Nancy was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of St. George’s Maronite Catholic Church. Until her illness, she attended daily mass during Lent. For many years she was a catechist teacher for St. George’s Church. In addition, for many years, she volunteered for the Colomban Fathers.

After placing first on the civil service test, Nancy became an employee of the Rhode Island State Tax Division. For 57 years, she rose through the ranks and became a Revenue Officer. Upon retirement, Governor Donald Carcieri presented him with an Exceptional Service Proclamation.

Nancy was an avid golfer who traveled nationally and internationally participating in numerous golf tournaments, sometimes the only participant. She won numerous awards, especially in the Carolinas, and was particularly known for her excellent short game. She was a member of the Seniors Golf Association in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and the National Senior Sports Association in Fairfax, Virginia.

Nancy was also present at all family events and often the first to dance the traditional Dabke at the many weddings of her nieces and nephews.

Call hours will be Thursday, October 28, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. George’s Maronite Catholic Church, 1493 Cranston Street, Cranston, RI, followed by a Christian funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. Masks are required.

Interment will take place immediately after Mass at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston.
