Rita G. Sardella Rita G. Sardella, 93, of Coatesville was received into the hands of Our Lord on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Paoli Hospital. She was the wife of Albert (Bert) Sardella with whom she shared 43 years of marriage before his death on August 6, 1995. Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of John and Rita Poltrone Gazerro. Rita graduated from S. Horace Scott High School. She worked at the Lukens Steel Company and the Coatesville Tailoring Factory before marrying the love of her life, Bert. Rita was proud to have given birth to two sets of twins, 14 years apart. While raising her children, she worked at Sears in downtown Coatesville and was a lifelong volunteer at the Brandywine Hospital Women’s Auxillary. Rita lived her life for her faith, her family, her food and her pleasure. Rita was dedicated to her Catholic faith and known for her devotion to the Blessed Mother. She always sent prayer cards to her family and friends for all occasions. Rita was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church and Congrega del Rosario, where she served as Past President and hosted many card parties, the Christmas Bazaar, and fundraisers. Rita’s favorite family tradition was spending time in Ocean City, NJ at the Beach Club (Sting Ray). She had vacationed there every year since 1953. Rita loved shopping at Henry’s Jewelery and walking her children and grandchildren on the boardwalk while wearing her chunky sunglasses and new jewelry. Rita loved holidays and cooking for the family. Until recently, she got up early every morning and prepared a full buffet for her sons. This assured her that she would see her boys every day for lunch. While providing a meal, she shared her wisdom on how to live their best life. Along with his sons was his sidekick, Rudy. A small white bichon, Rudy adopted many of Rita’s traits. People loved seeing Rita driving down the street in her gold Cadillac (again, while wearing her chunky sunglasses) with Rudy in the passenger seat. Before bed each night, they would enjoy a chocolate ice cream party. He even smelled of her Chanel perfume. Ahead of her time, Rita was known for writing mantras in permanent black marker on her refrigerator and walls for all to see. One that stands out, “I live on my good memories.” One of Rita’s favorite pastimes was to “kill an afternoon” shopping at Donecker’s clothing store with her best friend, Betty Vietri. She fulfilled her dream of traveling to Italy with her family and friends in 1979. Rita had perfect attendance for all social activities. She was the leader of the entourage at every event for her children and grandchildren. Rita is survived by her four sons, Dr. John and his wife Bernadette, Albert Esq. and his wife Patty, Dr. Andrew and his wife Karen and Dr. Renny and his wife Molly; 10 grandchildren whom she adored: Albert (Whitney), Gina (Frank Cunningham), Johnny (Kirstan), Kara, Corrina, Anna, Andrew, Emily, Katie and Maria; and 4 great-grandchildren: Jayne, Julia, Adriana and Jaxon. In addition to her parents and her husband, Rita was predeceased by her granddaughter, Maryanne and her sisters, Nina Guerrera and Anita Gazerro. With heartfelt gratitude and appreciation, our family would like to thank our mother’s loving caretakers over the years, including Angie Rodriguez-Zurita, Eileen Haden, Jenn Ward, Lauren Jackson and Katie Miles. We knew our mother was in good hands. She loved you all.
