MARSHALL – Christian Burial Mass for Ronald “Ron” Stevens, 59, of Marshall will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Marshall. Visits will continue on Monday, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at the center of remembrance. Interment will be at Hazel Run Lutheran Cemetery in Hazel Run.

On Friday, May 27, 2022, Ron suffered a stroke and was taken to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. He died on Saturday May 28, 2022 in hospital.

Ronald Edward Stevens was born on October 31, 1962 in Minneapolis. He was adopted by Roger and Mary Lou (Johnson) Stevens of Hazel Run. Ron grew up on the family farm in Hazel Run and graduated from Clarkfield High School. He attended Ridgewater College where he wrestled and Southwest Minnesota State University. He met his future wife, Barb Poss, at university. The couple were united in marriage on May 17, 1997 at St. Mary’s Chapel at Holy Redeemer School. From this union were born the children Clay and Meg. Ron held a variety of jobs before beginning his career in financial planning and insurance sales at Northwestern Mutual. Later, he started his own company which became Blue Sky Financial, LLC.

Ron believed in living life to the fullest. He always put the needs of others before his own. He loved vintage tractors, snowmobiles and motorcycles. Ron was very connected to his heritage at Hazel Run. He was especially passionate about his family. Ron was an active father. He visited his children frequently and imparted to them his philosophy of living life to the full. The family enjoyed many vacations, sporting events, boating and other activities.

Ron is survived by his wife, Barb, of Marshall, son Clay of Bloomington, and daughter Meg, who attend Mankato University.

He was predeceased by his parents and sister Lisa Stevens-Fisher.

Memorials are preferred to the charity of the donor’s choice.
