CUYAHOGA FALLS — The Salem girls repeated as Division II-II champions at the Walsh Jesuit Pat Richie Cross Country Invitational on Saturday.

The Quakers scored 59 points to trail Mogadore with 97, McDonald’s 106 and Gilmour Academy 139. The top four teams are all ranked by state.

Heartland Christian rookie Rebecca Geiss finished second in the field of 125 runners at Walsh Jesuit High School in 19 minutes, 2.55.1 seconds. McDonald senior Megan Hipple won in 17:551. Hipple won the Division III state track title in the 3,200-meter race in June.

Salem had four of the top 17 riders in the 125-rider field on Saturday. Sophomores Maggie Hall (19:37.1) and Maggie Hopple (19:45.8) finished fourth and sixth respectively. Senior Ella Double finished 16th, rookie Garyn Rohm 17th and sophomore Klaire Jaquette 24th to round out the Quakers.

The Salem boys, led by fifth-place junior Will Madison (16:58.6), were fifth in the team standings with 159 points. West Geauga won with 36 points. West Geauga first qualified last year.

The Quakers will participate in the Spartan Invitational at Boardman this Saturday.
