His outstanding level of service and unwavering commitment to Catholic education has been genuine, inspiring and unwavering over these many years and is one of the reasons he received a special gift from Chairman of the Board, Bob Schreader at the Feb. 28 board meeting, according to a statement. issued by the council.

Bray completes his 37and year as a RCCDSB Catholic Trustee in February 2022. He began his important role after being interviewed by a panel of 23 Trustees, Trustees and Stakeholders. His work as president of the parish council, eucharistic minister, lector and usher illustrated his deep commitment to the faith. He has also made community contributions such as a volunteer firefighter, Cub leader and scout and minor hockey coach.

Over the next few years, Bray became a board-level leader for three one-year terms in the 1990s and three terms as chairman in the following decade. He chaired all of the main Board committees as well as numerous ad hoc committees.

He was particularly instrumental in establishing school boards throughout the county, even before they were mandated by the Department of Education. For over 20 years, he has been instrumental in organizing education and religious education for parents in the council.

Bray continues to make the 165 kilometer round trip to board, committee and ad hoc meetings in all weathers, as well as extensive travel to Toronto as part of his job as local administrator and former director of Region 10. His work at the provincial level, as OCSTA Chair of the Catholic Education Committee, has had tremendous positive effects on Catholic education throughout Ontario, has noted the advice.

In 2017, Bray was the recipient of the Trustee Merit Award from the Ontario Catholic School Trustees’ Association (OCSTA). The award recognizes individuals who have provided “outstanding service to education over the years” and was presented at the OCSTA AGM and conference in Toronto.

He loves and serves Jesus; he is a strong witness to the Catholic community and he places the spiritual and academic growth of each of his students at the forefront of every decision he makes. We are truly fortunate to have him with us at RCCDSB.
